Biography
Chamberlin, DorisChamberlin, Doris Guild-passed away April 29, 2010 at the age of 90. She was born in South Waverly December 14, 1919 and was the daughter of J. Ritner and Florence Guild. Doris is predeceased by her husband, Warren E. Chamberlin and Son, Dr. Mark E. Chamberlin; parents, her brothers: J. Ritner, Warren, and Fenton.
She is survived by daughter, Jan (Charles) Clemens of Elmira Heights, NY and Son, Dean E.(Nikki) Chamberlin of Carlisle, Pa. Doris also leaves behind her grandchildren: Ben E.(Jennifer) Chamberlin, Carrie Ann Clemens, Jessica Guild Chamberlin, Elizabeth C. Sharp, Rebecca Lyn and Virginia Likely Chamberlin. Her great-grandchildren: Morgan Allen Chamberlin, Anna Elizabeth Chamberlin, Margaret Lin Sharp, and Elise Kathryn Chamberlin. She is also survived, by her sister, Ina B. Carroll and sister-in-law, Patricia Guild
Doris graduated from Waverly High School and Bloomsburg University, as a business teacher. She also did graduate work at Cornell University. She worked at the Goodyear Tire Company in Akron, Ohio, taught at Mansfield High School and at Waverly Jr./Sr. High School. She was a lifelong member of the Waverly United Methodist where she was an active member of the craft group and bible study group.
After their retirement, Warren and Doris had many happy memories with their camper at Lake Bonin, making several trips to Florida in the Winter and a trip to Wyoming.
Doris will be remembered by many, for her sweetness, kindness, caring and her strong Faith.
The family will greet friends at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad St., Waverly, New York on Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 1:00-2:00 PM. The funeral service will be lead by Pastor Ann Canfield immediately following the calling hour. The family will provide the flowers. Donations may be made in Doris’s honor to the Waverly Methodist Church or the Waverly Library.
