Beeman, Gladys S 

Gladys S Beeman, Age 92, of 204 Frederick Street, Athens, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home Saturday, December 26, 2009. A time for gathering with family and friends will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY. The celebration of Gladys life will follow the visitation at 12:00 pm.

Born February 7, 1917 to the parents of Stephen & Catherine Hunsinger Beeman in New Era, PA. She was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy A. DeKay, Granddaughter, Vicki Jo DeKay, Sisters, Stella Lewis, Beatrice Armstrong , Elizabeth Morningstar and her brother Herman Beeman. Survived by: Debra Irons – Murfreesboro, TN, David (Cheryl) DeKay – Athens, PA , Kim (Dennis) Stoddard – Waverly, NY, Kelly (Phillip) May – Athens, PA, Susan (Fred) Segar – Athens, PA, 11 Great-Grandchildren, 20 Great-Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces & Nephews. Gladys attended New Era schools until 1933 and was a long time homemaker, care taker, & restaurant worker. She was employed at Miner's restaurant, Brownie's Restaurant, Mountain Top Restaurant, & The Marilorn. She also was a factory worker at Remington Rand. Gladys was also well known in the valley for her special baked goods and wedding cakes. She was a member of The Church of Redeemer in Sayre, PA. Gladys enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid Bingo Player and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and traveling.
