Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend Catherine P. Frost England, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009 at the ElderWood Nursing Facility at Tioga in Waverly, where she had lived the past 8 1/2 years. She lead a rich and full life and she recently celebrated her 94th birthday at a small family party on May 26, 2009. Catherine was born on May 26, 1915 in Waverly, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Frost. She was the youngest sister to the late Raymond Frost, Charles Frost and Frances Frost Dykman. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Elmore England in 1962. A life-long Valley resident, Catherine was the mother to three daughters, Sharon (John) Simonds of Athens, Nancy (Dennis) Murphy of Stony Point, N.Y. and Kathy England of Rochester, N.Y. And she will be sadly missed by her 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was survived by her daughters, as well as her grandchildren: Christie Langdon of Waverly, John (Jennifer) Simonds of Sayre, Tom (Kathy) Simonds of Aston, Pa., Scott (Tricia) Simonds of York, Pa., Susan (Rich) Murphy of Wappinger Falls, N.Y., Kim (Troy) Adams of Coopersburg, Pa.,Brian (Michele) Murphy of Tomkins Cove, N.Y. and Dennis Murphy of Stony Point, N.Y. Catherine was employed at the Lincoln St. School cafeteria from 1963 through the 1970s where she enjoyed working with the elementary school children. After raising her family, she enjoyed an active life bowling, traveling, reading, and socializing with her family and many friends throughout the years. She served as the past-president of the Chemung View Apartment Complex, where she resided prior to moving to the ElderWood facility in 2000. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff on the fourth floor of the ElderWood Nursing Facility at Tioga where Catherine lived the most recent years of her life. In ElderWood, Catherine was a friend to many residents and many of the adult children of the residents who knew her from childhood. Those children would stop by and visit often. She was loved by the staff and took great interest in hearing their stories and watching their children grow over the past several years. She enjoyed being with people and she remained active until the last moment of her life, taking outings with her daughters, shopping, eating at restaurants, or making visits to her daughter’s home for family dinners. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and her bright smile.

Friends and family may call at the Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, NY on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. James in Waverly on Wednesday at 10 a.m. followed by an internment in the St. James Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Catherine’s name to the charity of one’s choice, or to the Volunteers in Partnership Program at
