Mr. Blauvelt the owner of the Blauvelt Funeral Home is a licensed Funeral Director in New York State and the State of Pennsylvania with over 40 years experience in the funeral industry. He has training in all aspects of Funeral Service & specializes in Pre-Arrangement, Pre-Funding & Funeral Trust Accounts. Mr. Blauvelt has been married for over 38 years and has 3 grown sons and 7 adorable grandchildren. He was born in Waverly, New York, attended college in Syracuse, New York, worked for the Barrett Funeral Home in Elmira, New York, Smith & Fudge Funeral Home in Elmira, New York and Cumming Funeral Service in Watertown, New York before settling back to the valley area in March of 1976. M. Dennis Thomas
Funeral Director
Mr. Thomas is a licensed Funeral Director in both New York and Pennsylvania. He graduated from Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Syracuse, NY in 1993. He has been a Funeral Director with the Blauvelt Funeral Home since 1993. Mr. Thomas is a lifelong resident of the Valley. He resides in Sayre with his wife Lura (Husick) and daughter Kelly Ann. Mr. Thomas is very active in the community: serving 12 years on the Sayre Boro Council, current Mayor of Sayre, member of the Health Care Authority of Sayre, Trustee of Guthrie Medical Center, and Trustee of Greater Valley Ambulance Corp. He also serves on many other boards. He is a member of the Church of Epiphany, Sayre, Sayre Elks, Sayre Sons of Italy, and Sayre Catholic War Vets. Mr. Blauvelt and Mr. Thomas are joined by an experienced staff of funeral assistants, retired clergy, grounds keepers and drivers just to mention a few. The employees help with a variety of tasks and are available to help with all arrangements that need to be made. Most of the staff have served Blauvelt Funeral Home for over 10 years and have help to create the loving and caring family atmosphere that is so helpful during this very difficult time.
